John Worboys, a 51 year old cab driver from Rotherhithe, London, went in appeal to cut his sentence. Worboys was jailed indefinitely in 2009 for drugging and sexually assaulting female passengers in his black cab. He used to drug them with champagne mixed with sedatives, to rape them afterwards. A pre-sentence report described Worboys as a "repetitive predatory sexual offender" who showed a "significant degree of sexual deviance". Following his conviction, police said he could be linked to 85 attacks in the London and Dorset areas dating back to 2002. His barrister, Jeremy Gold QC, said Worboys was an "inadequate individual" who was not diagnosed with any mental disorder but who struggled to have successful relationships with women. His appeal starts this Tuesday.
This man should be locked up for good. The way that he planned his attacks makes me sick. The fact that he could be linked to 85 attacks, should be enough to lock him away for good. This man is a serious threat to the English public and should not be out on the streets again. I also do not understand why he is still going in appeal if there are so many crimes he committed. Maybe there is a chance that he is found innocent of 10 of the 85 crimes but that still leaves a huge amount of crimes for which he should pay. This man deserves to spent the rest of his life in jail.

I agree with you that this man is a danger to society and that he should be locked up for a reasonable amount of time. But it should go along with some form of mental help, to find out what exactly it was that made him do this. Also, the fact that he could be linked to 85 attacks does not automatically mean that he is linked to them and he can only be charged for it if they have good evidence.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this man is dangerous for society and should be in jail for this period of time and the time that he was accused of raping these women. This man should be locked away from society. People like him aren’t 100% in the head. He has experienced something in the past that made them to what he is today. That is almost the cause. And I also believe by someone he knew or perhaps someone he didn’t knew at all. But they will almost never be able to control themselves when they are let free again. It is in their nature. Like with this man. He indeed needs mental help.
